  What is Wildsmart?

The WildSmart program is a proactive conservation strategy that encourages efforts by communities to reduce negative human - wildlife interactions.

The Quarry Lake Recreation Area is the immediate backyard of the entire community, and both the Powerline Trail and the Highline Trail are also adjacent.

All of these areas have wildlife in them.

When we become accustomed to having wildlife around all the time, we tned to forget how unique the situation really is.

In order to keep track of wildlife movements and understand better how the animals interact with our neighbourhood, we all need to help out. Any sighting of bears, deer, elk, coyotes, cougars, lynx, and various bird species should be reported to WildSmart. They keep records of all sightings, and encounters, and over time will be able to provide objective and accurate information that helps to fill in the gaps between focused studies.
